Is it free to post a listing on FreshThreads?
Posting an item on FreshThreads is free!
How do I list an item?
Listing an item is easy. Simply make an account and “Log in” and progress through the steps on the site, or you can follow the instructions below:
1- Click “Sell" link located top centre of the FreshThreads pages
2- Fill in the mandatory information on the first product details age
3- Select images to upload (up to 3) and fill in Colour, Brand, Material and Location tabs
4- Click and you’re Done!
How do I list an item in my location?
When listing your item simply enter your suburb and city or postcode in the location field and your item will appear in the appropriate suburb search.
How long do items stay listed on FreshThreads?
Listing duration is 30 days on FreshThreads. If the item has not been sold/deleted within that period, users will be prompted to re-list the item. If an item is not relisted it will be deleted.
Do I have to have an account to post an item?
Yes. Accounts can be created quickly and easily by using your Facebook account when logging in, alternatively you can sign up using a separate email address.
Are listings screened before they appear on FreshThreads?
Yes, every listing is screened before they appear on FreshThreads. This is to ensure all content is appropriate to FreshThreads and is in no way offensive.
We strongly encourage our users to be vigilant and sensible. To assist in staying safe, we have safety advice section on our site.
How can I search and browse all listings in a certain location?
To search all listings across a certain location;
- leave all other fields blank
- and in the “Location” field type in the specified location i.e. suburb, state or postcode
- click "Search"
How do I reply to a listing?
On the listing page, simply type your reply in the Contact Seller Box on the right hand side of the page and click send.
The seller will receive an email with your reply and contact you.
How can I narrow search results by using the refinement options?
Search criteria on the buy page allows you to refine your search by:
Price
Main Clothing Category (Ie, Womans clothing)
Clothing Sub Catagort (Ie Womans shoes)
Minimum Price
Maximum Price
Location
Seller
Condition
Size
How do I complete a transaction using FreshThreads?
FreshThreads is not involved in the actual transactions, as we only connect buyers and sellers. We recommend that you complete face to face local transactions. The transaction of exchanging goods should be done in person at a location agreed upon by both parties. Cash should be exchanged only after the item has been inspected. Conducting transactions in person helps you avoid shipping charges, exchange rates, and most importantly, lessens the risk of scams. Other ways to complete transactions could include post or courier.
How do I see a seller’s other listings?
If you find a listing on FreshThreads you like and want to see the other active listings the seller has, you can either search the sellers name in the refine search field, or click on their name on the listing page to be taken to their “store”. You can also follow any seller and receive an update on what items they have posted recently by clicking the Follow Seller button in the Contact Seller section.
Iʼm not receiving replies / my replies arenʼt being sent
Replies are sent to the seller’s email Inbox.
If youʼre not receiving replies in your email ʼs Inbox, itʼs possible that they were redirected to your junk/Spam folder. Please check your Junk/Spam folder to see if they are there.
If the person you are trying to contact isn’t receiving your emails, itʼs possible that they are also being redirected to their Junk/Spam folder. If this looks like it is the case, we suggest sending a follow-up email. Users are not obliged to reply to all emails.
How do I delete my listing?
After posting a listing, you can at any time go into your “My Store” page, select the product you want to delete and click sold/delete. You will then have to enter your password to confirm deletion.
You'll notice a survey pop up that will ask, "why you're deleting your ad?", please select the correct option so we know if our site was helpful. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
How do I change my email address?
- If you are a registered user and would like to change your email address you can do this via Account and press edit
- Select the change email button
- Enter your new email address and save the changes, confirm your password when prompted.
- A confirmation email will be sent to your new and old address, please follow the instructions provided.
- Please note that you cannot change your account to an email address that already exists on our files.
I forgot my password. Can you reset it?
- Simply click on the "Log In" link located at the top right of the webpage and you'll be taken to the "Login or Register" page.
- Then click on "Forgot Password" link towards the bottom of the page, to be directed to the "Change my password" page.
- Enter your email address (ensure you spell it correctly) in the "Email Address" field and click the "send email" button just below.
- You will then receive an email to the email address you’ve entered with a link. Open up the email and click on the link so you can choose a new password.
How can I repost my listing?
An option to repost a listing will become available a few days before a listing is set to expire. Listing duration is 30 days.
You will also receive an email few days before your listing expires.
- Sign in and you will see the option to repost in "My Store" after signing in. You simply need to click on the "Repost" link in the email or "click the email link".
Can I edit my listing for FREE
Changes to listing can be made free of charge at any time, providing you with more flexibility to manage your listing.
Why can't I sign in? FreshThreads doesn't recognise my email and password
This might mean that you haven't previously registered.
If this is the case, go to the log in page and select create account > follow the prompts.
How do I sign in or register on FreshThreads with the Facebook option?
If you already have a Facebook account, you can simply sign in or register with FresThreads by clicking 'Sign in with Facebook'.
A window will pop up asking for your Facebook credentials. Once you enter your email address and password for Facebook, this will allow you to sign in to FresThreads with the same account.
Email correspondence will be sent to the email address associated with your Facebook account, unless you decide to change your email address.
'Sign in with Facebook' is simply an alternative way to sign in to FresThreads, and it saves you the trouble of remembering multiple passwords and login info!
What happens to my personal information when I 'Sign in with Facebook'?
When you sign in or register with FreshThreads using the "Sign in with Facebook' option a window will pop up asking for your permission to access your public Facebook profile and your primary email address.
This information will only be used to create your FreshThreads account.
- Your primary Facebook email address will be set as your FreshThreads email address
- We don't store any other information from your Facebook account
- We will never post anything on your Facebook wall
- We don't share any user information with Facebook
My listing has a pause symbol on it in my store, what does this mean?
A pause symbol next to your listing simply means that your listing has not yet been approved by the administration. FreshThreads will process listings as fast as possible.
Why have I not received a posting confirmation email?
If you have not received a posting confirmation email, please check any "Junk" or "Spam" email folders to see if the confirmation email from FreshThreads was sent there.
Ensure that noreply@FreshThreads.com.au is added to your email "safelist".
Does FreshThreads have maps?
Currently FreshThreads does not offer a map service.
All location address pertains to the “location” line under the product details.
Does FreshThreads have phone support?
We don't have FreshThreads phone support however you can simply click on "Contact Us" located bottom of all pages to raise a ticket and we'll be happy to help with your questions.
Why am I having problems uploading images?
It may just be too big!
FreshThreads allows images of 4MB in size. For example dimension 800x600 works well when uploading images. To check if the picture size is less than 4MB (=4,000kb) go to the folder where the image is stored
- Click view > details - it gives you information about image size and file type
- OR Right click the image > properties
How can I reduce image size?
If it is larger than 4MB you can use free tools such as http://bulkresizephotos.com/ and this will allow you to resize your images simply by defining scale image % or by defining length of pixels. Once you've done this simply try to upload your image again.
Photos posting upside-down:
Have the photos youʼre trying to upload taken with a phone? Please make sure you edit the orientation of the actual image file and not only the preview. We also suggest taking new photos, preferably with a camera, to see if this helps. If the photos were taken using a camera, please make sure they are re-saved right-side up.
Blurry Photos:
Did you upload the original photos or are they copies of the originals? If you are not using the original image file and have copied your photo from a program, this may be why your photos appear blurry when they're enlarged on the site. Please make sure you're using the original file to ensure the photo appears with its original quality.
If youʼre still having issues uploading photos, please check that your images comply with all the minimum requirements listed above.
STAYING SAFE ON FRESHTHREADS
How do I stay safe while using FreshThreads?
While most of our users have a successful, hassle free experience with transactions on FreshThreads we recommend users are aware of these buying and selling tips to ensure the best possible experience.
One of the safest ways to proceed is to ensure that transactions take place locally and in person.
Buying & Selling safety tips:
1. When buying or selling, you should try to meet in person to see what you are purchasing and exchange money. If possible take someone with you, or have another person with you at home if a buyer is coming to your place.
2. Make sure you have received the money before sending an item. This includes never mailing a cheque or using payment services to pay for items found on FreshThreads.
3. Always check the item you are purchasing before agreeing to a sale and transferring funds. Items should be looked at carefully to make sure it is as described in the listing and any issues are known before the sale.
4. FreshThreads doesn't provide any buyer protection or payment programs. Any emails you receive that mention buyer protection or payment programs should be ignored, even if they may have the FreshThreads logo. If you receive any emails advising use of these services, please report it to us.
5. FreshThreads doesn't have any sort of Live Chat Support. If you receive any emails containing a Live Chat link, please contact us.
6. Use common sense. If something looks too good to be true it probably is!
What do I do if I have been defrauded?
If you feel that you've been the victim of fraud, please contact us here and send through all the information you have about the listing and or the email address of the seller or buyer that contacted you so we can take internal action to protect other FreshThreads customers.
REPORTING LISTINGS
What is reporting a listing?
Reporting a listing brings the listing to the attention of FreshThreads. We then look at the listing and remove anything which violates the site policies from FreshThreads.
To report a listing, click the "Report this item" heading on the right of a listing page.
To report a listing:
- Click the "Report this item" button located under the comment box
- Choose a reason for reporting it and click "Report"
- After a listing is reported to us, we take a look as quickly as we can and then decide if we need to remove it
- Your help and feedback is extremely valuable to us. With your help FreshThreads can keep the content on the site clean, up-to-date and relevant for everyone
I've received an email asking for personal details - "Confirm your Identity"
Sometimes phishers will attempt to gain personal information by requesting personal details- the emails can sometimes look very official. The email is not from FreshThreads, we would not ask for this type of information.
Please contact us if you have received this type of email, or if you have any further concerns.
